Library Mission & Vision
Mission
To support the study, teaching, and practice of theology and development studies by providing access to diverse, reliable, and contextually relevant resources. The library seeks to equip students, researchers, and practitioners with knowledge that deepens theological understanding, promotes sustainable development, and fosters informed, ethical engagement with communities and global challenges.
Vision
To be a leading center for integrated theological and development studies learning, inspiring academic excellence, spiritual formation, and innovative approaches to social transformation. The library aspires to nurture a community committed to justice, equity, and holistic development, where faith and knowledge work together to positively impact society.
Rules of Conduct and Regulations
Lending rules
- Students are allowed to borrow two books only while lectures should borrow four books only.
- Circulation books may be loaned for a maximum period of Seven days, Renewable once but may be recalled at anytime when the materials are needed. Failure to respond promptly may lead to suspension of library privileges.
- Failure to return the books on time a fine of ksh 5 will be charged immediately after the due date each day until the book is returned
- Materials may be issued for classroom or conference use upon request of any BHI official, provided that they will be returned within the day.
- Reserved books should be used within the library
- You are allowed to use the computer for one hour. If need be you can be asked to give others opportunity to use the computers.
- Members proceeding on long leave or on deputation etc. exceeding three months should return the documents that are borrowed.
- Newly arrived documents shall be displayed. Documents on display shall be issued only after one week. However, advance reservation is encouraged.
Loss of borrowed materials and Mutilating or pilfering library properties. Any person who losses or deface, mutilate, or steal any a material shall either replace it with the same title or pay its current replacement value, or replace it with another title to be selected by the Librarian. The person shall have his/her library privileges curtailed.
SILENCE RULES:
Use of mobile phones. Library users shall turn off or put to silent mode their mobile phones. When calling or taking a call, library users shall go out of the library where they cannot be heard by those inside the library.
Silence shall be observed at all times in the library. Loud conversations are strictly prohibited between individuals or among a group.
- EATING OR DRINKING INSIDE THE LIBRARY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
- BAGS/LUGGAGE IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE LIBRARY. SHOULD BE KEPT IN THE SHELF OUTSIDE
- BOOKS SHOULD BE LEFT ON THE TABLE AFTER USE
- MAINTAIN CLEANNESS IN THE LIBRARY EVERY LITTER SHOULD BE DISPOSE IN THE DUST BIN.
ANY PRINTING WORK IS CHARGED KSH 5 PER PAGE
